After Amane's Departure: Will he solve Rapid's defensive midfield problem?
Currently, Rapid only has two fit defensive midfielders in their squad. Will the Hütteldorfer now sign a free agent?
Following Romeo Amane's departure, SK Rapid was unable to sign a new defensive midfielder on Deadline Day.
With captain Matthias Seidl and Nicolas Bajlicz, only two fit players are currently available for this position.
Ndizie Not Yet Fit
Martin Ndzie, who moved to Hütteldorf last summer for 2.5 million euros, is not expected to be an option again for several weeks due to his knee injury.
Now, the "Kurier" is bringing former WSG Tirol captain Valentino Müller into play.
The 27-year-old has been a free agent since his contract expired and is still looking for a new club.
Rapid Couldn't Sign a Loan Player
Since the transfer window closed on Thursday, signing a free agent would be Rapid's only option to strengthen the squad externally.
Katzer reportedly tried to sign a player on loan on Deadline Day. After that plan failed, Müller could now become the new option.
However, there is no information about concrete discussions yet.
