SV Ried lands its next coup on the transfer market.
As the Innviertler club announced on Monday, Malian Pape Sissoko is moving from Stade Reims to Upper Austria on loan. The Bundesliga club has, however, secured a purchase option for the attacker (More info>>>).
The 20-year-old center forward, who also plays for his home country's U23 national team, has already made six appearances for Stade Reims in the French Ligue 1.
"Brings what we need"
"With Pape Sissoko, we are gaining a young, hungry striker who brings exactly what we still needed in the attacking position," says Wolfgang Fiala, Sporting Director at SV Ried.
"Pape is a bulldozer; at 1.87 meters, he brings an enormous physical presence, he's powerful, assertive, and holds up the ball upfront," he adds.
"He is only 20 years old but has already gained good experience at a high level in Ligue 1 and during his loan spells. We are pleased that we have a purchase option and can now dedicate ourselves to his development. We are very happy that he chose Ried despite other opportunities," says Fiala.
Also played in Hungary
"Strikers get a very good platform in Austria. I like that the club here in Ried is like a family. That was very convincing for me," says Pape Sissoko.
"Many good players from Mali have already been in Austria. To be successful here, you have to work hard, run a lot, and fight," says the 20-year-old, who has also played on loan in Hungary and most recently for AS Nancy.
