"Whether on or off the pitch, I think we are a really good unit and have fun with each other. But when it comes down to business, we know when we have to perform," says Zabransky.
Röhl Praises Squad Depth
Coach Röhl repeatedly speaks enthusiastically about the squad's depth. This naturally leads to competition. However, for the central defender, this is not a bad thing in football. It should rather push them.
Nevertheless, according to the German coach, especially in central defense, there are players like John Mellberg and Anrie Chase who don't have it easy getting past Kevin Boma, Zabransky, and co. Having so many central defenders at this level is a quality, says Röhl.
Especially after the "Bulls'" international fixture on Thursday, it was necessary to inject fresh impetus early on against the Styrians on Sunday. With Sota Kitano, Yorbe Vertessen, and Aboubacar Camara, Röhl was able to call upon other prominent names. Generally, Salzburg can bring incredible quality off the bench this season.
"Marcus Has Done an Excellent Job"
"Marcus (note: Mann) has done an excellent job. He put the squad together very well," the coach praises the CEO.
Against Sturm Graz, Boma (76th minute) and Camara (83rd minute) scored as two new goalscorers. The development of the former, in particular, is excellent. The new signing arrived from GD Estoril Praia in the summer and quickly established himself in the team.
Camara, on the other hand, previously played for Liefering and, at 19, is one of the "Bulls'" biggest talents. After ten minutes of initial difficulties, during which he "lost one or two tackles," he also impressed on matchday seven and scored a spectacular goal.
"He has that certain something in one-on-one situations, in finishing. I believe sometimes it's not easy even for his teammates to know what's coming, and that's exactly what makes him special. That's why we have to develop him further so that he remains even clearer in his actions," explains the 37-year-old.
Plenty of Work During International Break
Nikolas Veratschnig and Christian Zawieschitzky were called up for the ÖFB team, and others are also away during the international break. For their teammates, however, there is plenty to do after recovery. Röhl has already presented the coaching staff with a list of what needs to be worked on.
Topics on the "wide agenda" include playing against the ball, set pieces, but also individual conversations, especially with second-string players who get significantly less playing time. These players also need appreciation.
Nevertheless, as second in the table, just one point behind Rapid, they can go into the international break satisfied. However, Zabransky is already cautious: "No defeat. That's great, of course, but nothing for us to rest on. We're going into the international break now, but we know that difficult games await us afterwards."
