Shortly after Mann spoke these words, Aboubacar Camara was substituted into the match at the Red Bull Arena. And what the 19-year-old from Burkina Faso showed in the following 45 minutes raises the question of whether Salzburg even needs external reinforcement on the wing anymore.
Camara took five shots on goal during this time, and four out of five dribbling attempts were successful – most of them executed at top speed. He lacked a bit of composure in front of goal on one or two occasions, but he shined with a strong assist for Yorbe Vertessen.
Röhl raves: "A ball-carrier"
"He did an excellent job today; you can see great development in him over the past few weeks," coach Danny Röhl enthused afterward.
He continued: "He plays with ease, has good dribbling and pace. With his pace, especially in transition moments, he can give us a lot of space and time as a so-called 'ball-carrier'."
Not yet a training champion
At the same time, the former Liefering player, who in the previous season recommended himself for a promotion with a goal from the halfway line against Admira, needs to stay grounded and improve in several areas.
"We need to further develop him off the ball, as well as in his decision-making. He has that extraordinary quality, and now he needs to consistently show that in every training session," Röhl hinted, suggesting that Camara might not necessarily be a "training world champion."
Röhl still wants external reinforcement
"He can do even more in training. He needs to understand that he has to invest more to become an even better player," the German said pointedly.
Despite Camara's promising performance, eyes will remain open in the transfer market, Röhl stated: "We want to continue to improve and perhaps do that with a transfer."
