Rapid's togetherness impresses: "We are a family"

When substitute players rush to join every goal celebration, assists become more important than scoring, and bench players take joy in watching, a lot of things are going right.

It is not just goals like the one for 4-0 against WAC that are the work of the entire team: the celebration after a goal is too. Every single time.

Whenever Rapid score these days, the substitutes and coaching staff are right there in the mix, too.

It is the most visible sign of a trait that keeps being emphasized by everyone: the team chemistry is excellent, and unity is a key foundation for the league leaders' strong run.

Among all the footballing progress made in Hütteldorf, this is arguably the most significant step forward under Johannes Hoff Thorup and his staff.

"No, no — WE, the team," the Dane corrected a journalist when congratulated on the victory.

And Ercan Kara stated firmly on "Sky": "I've never had so much fun playing football. We are a family, you can see that with every goal celebration."

"We're happy when someone gets back into form"

Against the Wolfsberg side, this was even more evident for several reasons.

First, because six goals simply provided plenty of opportunities to celebrate this pattern. Second, because the entire team got derby winner shirts shortly after the game and wore them collectively.

Third, because two players who had recently struggled also got on the scoresheet: Tonni Adamsen and Claudy Mbuyi.

With the Dane, it might not have been as noticeable, as he is usually a starter and was only rested for the first hour against the bottom team.

However, the fact that goal contributions didn't come so easily against Vienna and in the derby seemed to have been on the striker's mind, listening to Yusuf Demir's remarks. Demir set up Adamsen selflessly for the 4-0 goal, even though shooting himself was also an option.

"Today it was important that we put Tonni in the spotlight a bit, because he had a tough few weeks in terms of goal contributions. I'm delighted I could give him an assist. We are a team, and we're happy when someone who hasn't been in form lately gets back into form," the playmaker remarked — a remarkably selfless statement.

Mbuyi enjoys seeing Kara score

Mbuyi, on the other hand, is still on the slow road back from injury and registered his second goal.

And in the mixed zone, he repeatedly steered the conversation away from himself — even though he has to watch Ercan Kara scoring freely in his position. Or gets to watch?

"First and foremost, I have to think about the team, and I'm happy when Ercan scores. Or Tonni. I'm really happy, even when I don't play — because it's a winning team," the Frenchman said.

"Even when I'm on the bench: when I see the whole team playing, I'm happy. Because when I get a few minutes, I also get my chances, and that's really fun. I really appreciate playing in this team, where everyone will get their chance."

The Körner Training Center sounds like a workplace people are currently very happy to step into.
