Sturm Flop Set for MLS Move
Maurice Malone is set to leave Graz. In the USA, he could reunite with a former Austria teammate.
Maurice Malone is reportedly on the verge of departing SK Sturm Graz.
According to "Sky", the 26-year-old German is set to move to Major League Soccer club Minnesota United. An official confirmation of the transfer is expected shortly, according to the report.
This marks a turning point in the Malone case: the striker had recently been linked with a move to Cypriot club FC Pafos.
Sturm Gets Rid of Transfer Flop
Malone was only signed by Sturm last September for around two million Euros. In his first season in Graz, the attacker played 39 competitive matches and was directly involved in only seven goals.
For the new season, Malone no longer played a role in Graz's plans. The German was removed from the first team squad.
As a result, last weekend saw an unusual appearance: Malone played for SK Sturm's second team in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga against Admira. Now his chapter in Graz could finally be coming to an end.
Reunion with Fitz?
In Minnesota, Malone would meet an old acquaintance. Former teammate Dominik Fitz is under contract with the MLS club.
Malone and Fitz played together at Wiener Austria between 2024 and 2025. However, Fitz's future in the USA is also not entirely clear. The 26-year-old is reportedly seeking a return to Europe and could leave the MLS club this summer.
