Very weak Austria also loses against WSG Tirol
While the Tyroleans defeat the second Austria within a few days, the hosts sink deeper into crisis.
In the rescheduled match of the 4th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, WSG Tirol won 1-0 away at Wiener Austria.
Austria has been at the bottom of the table since the weekend, and that's how they performed in the first half.
Both teams offered extremely little, with the first dangerous moment coming in the 25th minute when Marc Striednig hit the post after a corner kick flick-on.
A good ten minutes later, Austria played out too casually, but Nikolai Baden-Frederiksen failed to beat Vienna goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger with an intercepted ball. Immediately after, Austria had their only chance in the first half, with Ranftl shooting too centrally from a good position.
A Set Piece is Needed
After the break, the game continued with a similarly weak performance, so a set-piece was needed. A corner from Baden-Frederiksen, Marco Boras' attempt was cleared off the line, but Drew Murray tapped it in (66').
The goal seemed to give the Tyroleans even more momentum; nevertheless, Salko Hamzic had to be alert for a header from Tae-Seok Lee. For WSG, Michael Olakigbe had the chance to seal the win in the final phase, but he didn't hit the ball well at all.
In the end, that didn't change the result; the Tyroleans won against Wiener Austria after their recent 4-0 victory over Austria Lustenau.
In the table, WSG Tirol now jumps to fifth place with seven points, while Austria remains last.
