Last-minute victory for LASK in Upper Austria derby
Usor rescues LASK with a 90th-minute screamer. The Linz side keep the gap to the top within limits.
On matchday 12 of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, LASK secured a 4-2 victory over SV Ried in the final minutes of a hard-fought Upper Austria derby.
LASK got off to a dream start. Kalajdzic played Lang through, who sprinted past the defense to slot home for an early 1-0 lead (3').
Action intensifies after the equalizer
After about 30 eventless minutes, the game suddenly burst into life. Rhodes dribbled down the left side of the penalty area, cut inside, and fired a shot. The ball was deflected off two Linz players and bounced past Jungwirth into the net for 1-1, officially credited as an own goal by Freckleton (32').
Shortly after, the Vikings even took a 2-1 lead. Schwab won back possession in midfield and laid the ball off to Bajic, who slammed a powerful strike high into the near corner (37').
Before the break, the surging Tornich was played into space and grabbed the 2-2 equalizer for Linz (39'). Ljubicic almost restored the lead, but Ried goalkeeper Leitner managed to deny him.
Fiercely contested second half
The second half also got off to a lively start. First, Bogarde had a great chance for LASK (47'), followed shortly after by Bajic for Ried (51').
As the second half progressed, LASK carved out the clearer chances. Usor headed against the post in the 72nd minute, and Kalajdzic missed narrowly from a similar position shortly after (76'). Bogarde had the next best opportunity for Linz, curling a right-footed effort just wide of Leitner's goal (84').
Another late goal
That commitment was rewarded. In the 90th minute, substitute Usor smashed the ball under the crossbar from 15 yards out. With Ried throwing everything forward, LASK launched a counter-attack and sealed the 4-2 final score through Danek.
Just like recently in the ÖFB Cup, LASK struck late against Ried, who have struggled immensely with late conceded goals this season.
With this result, LASK remain third in the table and keep the gap to Rapid small. Ried stay in sixth place.
