In the 1st round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, WSG Tirol and SK Sturm Graz draw 1:1. The Graz team had more of the game but failed to score the winning goal.

Sturm started cautiously but went into tackles too hard. Four Graz players received yellow cards in quick succession.

The hosts had the first chance. A long throw-in, Boras flicked it on to Hinterseer, who headed the ball forward and shot from a turn. The ball rolled just wide of the goal; it wasn't far off (21.).

Wlodarczyk Opens Sturm's Season

After that, Sturm grew stronger. Seidl first missed a big chance (27.), but two minutes later, the Graz team took the lead. A fine long pass from Stankovic into the run of Soglo, who brought the ball sharply into the middle with a nice touch. Szymon Wlodarcyzk was lurking there and scored Graz's first Bundesliga goal of the season (29.).

However, the Tyroleans didn't go into the break with a deficit. While Sturm captain Stankovic had to leave the field injured, WSG newcomer Olakigbe made a fine run. The Englishman left half of the Graz defense standing and then coolly slotted the ball into the far corner (42.).

Sturm, however, had the last chance in an eventful first half. After a mistake by Kubatta, Seidl missed alone in front of WSG goalkeeper Hamzic (45.+1.).

WSG Defends Draw

At the start of the second half, Sturm pushed forward offensively but was incredibly caught offside six times in a row.

WSG offered little offensively afterwards. Sturm was almost awarded a penalty in the final phase. After a Sturm corner and contact with the substituted Ola-Adebomi, referee Ebner initially awarded a penalty but was then corrected by VAR (75.).

Simon Seidl had the last opportunity in the game, but after groundwork from Kayombo, he failed to beat the strong Hamzic (90.+2).

Nothing noteworthy happened after that. Sturm couldn't get more than a draw against WSG but extended their unbeaten streak to 17 competitive matches.
