SCR Altach has reached the quarterfinals of the UNIQA ÖFB-Cup.

The Vorarlberg side clearly won their round of 16 match against GAK 4-0, giving the Grazers hardly any chance. Yann Massombo scored twice, while Rodney Elongo-Yombo and Srdjan Hrstic also got on the scoresheet.

Massombo Puts Altach on Track

In an intense but initially chance-poor match, Altach took the initiative for the first time after a quarter of an hour.

After a free-kick from Patrick Greil, Rodney Elongo-Yombo laid the ball into the box, Filip Milojevic got a shot away but was decisively thwarted (15').

Three minutes later, the ball found the back of the GAK net. Srdjan Hrstic sent Yann Massombo through with a precise pass. The attacker remained composed in front of Cican Stankovic and scored the opener (18').

GAK barely created anything offensively, while the visitors repeatedly became dangerous with quick counter-attacks. Massombo (35') and Hrstic (40') missed the target, and shortly before halftime, Mike-Steven Bähre fired a rebound just wide of the left post (44').

Thus, Altach went into the dressing room with a thoroughly deserved lead. GAK did not register a single noteworthy shot on goal in the first half.

Massombo Bags a Brace

After the change of ends, GAK started the second half a little better. Peter Michorl tried his luck right after the restart (46'), and a little later, another shot from the midfielder was blocked in the penalty area (50').

But right in the middle of this brief attacking phase, Altach struck again. Patrick Greil was played through on the right wing and penetrated the penalty area. Bähre initially failed to beat Stankovic after his cross, but Massombo was perfectly positioned for the rebound and tapped in for the 2-0 (51').

Just a few minutes later, the game was practically decided. Benjamin Böckle crossed from the left into the box, Elongo-Yombo let the ball slide past but scored a spectacular goal into the top left corner (58').

GAK coach Gerald Scheiblehner reacted with a quadruple substitution. However, this changed little regarding the visitors' superiority. Stankovic prevented another goal with a strong foot save against Elongo-Yombo (66').

Hrstic Seals the Win

In the 68th minute, Altach was awarded a penalty. Yanis Eisschill, who had just come on, held up the ball against Michael Sollbauer, who fouled the Altach player on the foot.

Srdjan Hrstic took responsibility and confidently converted the penalty to make it 4-0 (69'). Stankovic guessed the right corner but could not save the well-placed shot.

In the closing stages, Altach let nothing else happen and secured a thoroughly deserved away victory, even by this margin. The Vorarlberg side thus advanced to the quarterfinals of the UNIQA ÖFB-Cup, while GAK experienced a disappointing evening.

For GAK, things continue this coming Friday in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga with a home game against TSV Hartberg. Altach will host SV Ried on Saturday.
