Two games, two wins. That's the U19 ÖFB national team's record so far at the Four Nations Tournament in Portugal.

After their opening victory against Denmark, Oliver Lederer's team also prevailed against the Netherlands with a 1-0 win.

As early as the 5th minute of play, the ÖFB talents celebrated the decisive goal scored by Augsburg's Loris Husic.

Lead Provides Momentum

With the lead behind them, the Austrians played with freedom. They repeatedly managed to get dangerously close to the Dutch goal, but no further shot found its way into the net.

The Dutch, who started the tournament with a 6-1 defeat against Portugal, tried to recover from the early deficit and increasingly found their way into the game.

"As the game progressed, the Dutch got better and better. They adapted to us more effectively and tried to disrupt our build-up play, which they succeeded in doing, especially towards the end of the first half. But we didn't let that unsettle us," analyzed head coach Oliver Lederer regarding the further course of the game.

Hosts Await in Decisive Match

He commented on the early phase of the match: "We started the game really well and rewarded ourselves with an early goal. In that phase, we created two or three more top chances and might even have been able to add a second goal."

"Overall, it was once again an incredibly mature performance from the boys throughout the entire game, which impresses us, the coaching staff, even in phases when things aren't going so smoothly. They're doing really well and deserved this victory today."

The last opponent in this tournament is now hosts Portugal.

"Now we have to wait and see how the match between Denmark and Portugal ends. But the fact that we have it in our own hands to win the tournament before the last game is, of course, a cool story."

"The Portuguese won their first game against the Dutch 6-1; they were outstanding. But we are confident we can do it too. We need to recover well, gather our strength once again, and then we will perform against Portugal just as we did in the first two games," Team Manager Lederer stated optimistically.
