Wacker pro Joppich: "That will be difficult to top"

"Given that I don't score many goals and it was already exceptional, I definitely have to say yes," says Alexander Joppich, when asked if his goal against Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz was the most beautiful of his career.

The Tyrolean scored the temporary 4-0 in the 5-0 victory against the Vorarlbergers in the first round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga.

The goal was similar to Benjamin Pavard's goal at the 2018 World Cup against Argentina. The ball bounces back to Joppich outside the penalty area, who finishes with a first-touch volley, and the ball sails perfectly into the top corner.

"An Old Warhorse"

It's not surprising that the goal was the most beautiful of his career. Because, according to transfermarkt.at, the 31-year-old has only scored six professional goals.

As a right-back, he is usually required to play more defensively. But he is extremely important for Wacker. Wacker coach Sebastian Siller is especially happy for his veteran.

"Joppi is an old warhorse, a pure Tyrolean and in a way our extended arm. He has contributed a lot in recent years and I'm just extremely happy that he rewarded himself today," says Siller.

A Second Homecoming

Joppich already played for Wacker in his youth. After that, he moved on to Augsburg, Liefering, and Austria Lustenau, before returning to the Tyrolean capital for the first time in 2018.

After his professional career ended in 2022, he left Innsbruck again, before making another return two years later. In the fourth league, he rejoined the black and greens and led them back into professional football.

Now Wacker is back in professional football, and Joppich is right in the thick of it: "It was simply a magical evening. That will be difficult to top."
