Perfect Start for Vienna

The Döblingers get off to a perfect start. With the first chance of the game, Edelhofer and Rosenberger combine optimally, setting up Soukouna with a cut-back pass, who scores the 1-0 from close range.

St. Pölten's first dangerous effort comes from captain Stendera in the 16th minute. However, Vienna still has the more potent chances, such as through Edelhofer in the 24th minute.

The best chance for the Wolves falls to Gabbichler, who is perfectly set up by Krasniqi, but Breit manages to clear for a corner. Later, the Vienna defender has less luck, deflecting a free-kick from Stendera into his own net (39').

Shortly before halftime, the Lower Austrians almost take the lead. Stendera sends Krasniqi through, who rounds goalkeeper Unger and pokes the ball parallel to the goal line. Amoah still gets to the pass but only hits the post.

Quickfire Goals from Vienna Decide It

Again, SKN becomes dangerous from a set-piece. Stendera hammers the ball from the edge of the penalty area against the crossbar with a free-kick.

Shortly after, however, Vienna takes the lead again. Marte breaks cleanly through on the right flank, looks for and finds Tobias Anselm at the right moment, who taps the ball over the line for 2-1 (63').

St. Pölten Complains About the Official

Immediately after, Zimmermann even scores the 3-1 (65'). In the immediate build-up, however, there was an alleged foul that referee Divkovic did not penalize. The visitors protest loudly against this decision. If there were VAR, it probably would have been used.

Again, St. Pölten complains about a refereeing decision, as there was an alleged handball in the Vienna penalty area (73'). Szerencsi has the best chance to pull one back after a corner in the 74th minute. Defender Bauer stands at the far post and clears the ball off the line.

Ultimately, it remains 3-1. First Vienna FC is thus in second place in the table with 19 points, while Blau Weiß Linz is currently at the top due to a better goal difference. SKN falls back to 12th place.
