Austria Salzburg defeated FAC 2-1 on the eighth matchday of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga. After falling behind, the Mozartstadt team turned the game around late while having a numerical advantage.

Austria Salzburg not only used the international break to get injured players fit but also made a move in the transfer market. Former Bundesliga player Luca Kronberger made his debut in the Mozartstadt team's starting eleven.

After both teams felt each other out, the hosts had their first chance in the 11th minute. Gebauer delivered a cross into the center, where Scharner had to stretch. The Salzburg players narrowly missed the rebound as Neumann was able to clear.

Scharner Repeatedly Tested

Ten minutes later, it was the Mozartstadt team again, with Crnkic posing a threat in front of goal. The Floridsdorf goalkeeper was tested once more but was able to clear for a corner.

Shortly before halftime, Crnkic missed (41st minute), and Scharner defused a long throw-in from Meisl against Kronberger almost with the halftime whistle. Despite some good attempts from the Viennese, Nesler-Täubl had little to do in the Salzburg goal so far.

FAC Shorthanded After One Hour

In the second half, the game intensified. Several players were cautioned. Among them was Schneider, who left his leg in against Eder and was sent off with a yellow-red card (59th minute).

The Salzburg team almost took advantage of their numerical superiority exactly one hour into the game. Crnkic shot just over the goal (60th minute).

However, the ball found the net for the first time after 72 minutes, but at the other end. Geris was able to convert a low cross in the center to make it 1-0. The goal hadn't really been on the cards.

Salzburg's Furious Finish

Austria Salzburg created some good opportunities with their man advantage, yet it long looked like a win for the Viennese. Until the 86th minute – Rohrmoser netted the ball after a cross, thus securing the equalizer.

Deep into stoppage time, the home team then turned the game around. Huetz scored an unstoppable goal to make it 2-1, still securing all three points for his team (90.+4).

With this result, Austria Salzburg is in sixth place in the table, level on points with FAC.
