SKN St. Pölten suffers its second defeat in the second match of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga 2026/27 against Young Violets Austria Wien.

After their 0-1 opening loss against FAC, the "Wolves" also had to concede a 0-1 defeat at home against the "Young Violets."

The first chance of the game fell to the home side from St. Pölten in the 16th minute. Following an attempted clearance by Young Violets, Timo Altersberger hammered the ball from the edge of the box with a half-volley against the crossbar, narrowly missing a spectacular goal.

In the 31st minute, another top opportunity arose from a set piece. Stendera delivered a free-kick cross from about 30 meters. Centre-back Buchegger got to the ball relatively unopposed but headed wide of the near post.

Violets step up before the break

Out of nowhere, the Young Violets created a triple chance (38'). After good pressing, Marijan Österreicher had two attempts on goal. First, goalkeeper Knett, then defender Altersberger on the line, managed to clear. Baotic's rebound was deflected for a corner.

The home team appeared frozen afterwards. The Viennese ruthlessly exploited this. After a short goal kick by the Wolves, possession was lost. 16-year-old Jerabek was played into the box and slotted home for 0-1 unchallenged (40').

In the second half, St. Pölten emerged more aggressively from the dressing room. In the 47th minute, captain Stendera sent a free-kick sharply towards goal. However, the shot was too low and central, posing no problem for goalkeeper Blazevic.

St. Pölten dominates

In the 55th minute, another chance for the equalizer: A very active Altersberger played a cross from the right wing. Hartwig arrived just too late in the middle.

Three minutes later, Stendera tried a long-range shot (58'), but it went over. St. Pölten increasingly pinned back their opponents; the equalizer was in the air.

In the 71st minute, the biggest chance for an equalizer in the second half so far. SKN had two attempts on goal inside the penalty area. Goalkeeper Blazevic flew across his line and kept a clean sheet thanks to two brilliant saves.

The biggest chance for the Viennese to score a second goal came in stoppage time (90'+5): Ewemade tried his luck on a counter-attack from the right half-space. However, the shot went straight to keeper Knett.

In the last action of the game, the equalizer almost fell. However, a long-range shot from over 20 meters was once again fished off the line by Stefan Blazevic.
