On matchday 12 of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, Wacker Innsbruck secured a 3-2 away victory at SKU Amstetten.

The hosts had the first chance of the match. In the 9th minute, Vötter's cross reached goalscorer Peham, whose effort on goal was tipped just over the crossbar by the opposing goalkeeper.

Clinical Innsbruck

However, it was the guests from Tyrol who took the lead. A corner taken by Galle found centre-back Kopp, who looped his header over goalkeeper Estevao (14').

Wacker proved clinical and managed to double their lead before half-time. A cross from the right slid past several players; Rodriguez failed to connect properly, but the ball fell to the unmarked Gstrein, who calmly slotted home (28').

Wacker kept up the pressure and were rewarded. In the 34th minute, Biancheri tried his luck from around 20 metres out and found the bottom-left corner with a well-placed low shot to make it 3-0.

Just before the break, the home side managed to get on the scoresheet. In the Wacker box, Peham squared the ball to Mayer, who also found the bottom-left corner, shooting through the legs of defender Kunze (43').

Fightback comes too late

The second half began with a scare. Wacker defender Kunze was struck full in the face from close range and was left lying dazed. After several minutes, he was able to leave the field under his own power, but had to be substituted.

After twenty quiet minutes with little action, Amstetten brought fresh tension to the game in the 73rd minute. Köchl had too much space on the right flank and crossed for Wimmer. His initial header was saved by Kirchmayr, but he buried the rebound to make it 3-2.

With neither team able to score again in the remaining time, Innsbruck secured victory after four consecutive competitive defeats. In the table, Innsbruck and Amstetten are now level on points in seventh and eighth place.
