Leadership Change: F1 Team Announces New Team Principal
The former Alpine Executive Director returns to Formula 1 after roughly four years. He is set to usher in the "race performance phase."
Formula 1 is currently on its summer break, but behind the scenes, preparations for the second half of the season are already underway.
Cadillac has now reacted to a subdued start by implementing a leadership change.
As the US racing team announced on Wednesday, Marcin Budkowski will take over as Team Principal for the Formula 1 newcomer with immediate effect. He replaces Graeme Lowdon in this role.
This marks Budkowski's return to the pinnacle of motorsport after approximately four years. His last role in Formula 1 as Executive Director at Alpine ended in 2022. Prior to that, the Pole worked for organizations including the FIA and racing teams Prost, Ferrari, and McLaren.
Budkowski to Help Shape "Race Performance Phase"
"Marcin's appointment is another step in the development of the Cadillac Formula 1 team," explains Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss.
The new Team Principal is tasked with initiating the transition from the development phase to the race performance phase. The goal is to compete for victories and titles in the long term.
Budkowski himself looks forward to his new role with great anticipation: "Cadillac has an exceptional foundation and great ambition. Now it's about maximizing car development within the budget cap and optimally aligning all areas of the team for competition," explains the 50-year-old.
His focus will be on optimizing processes, accelerating decision-making, and continuously improving the car's performance. He will make his debut as Cadillac Team Principal at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.
