Antonelli Blunders in Q1 - Will Another Engine Change Follow?

For Andrea Kimi Antonelli, qualifying in Baku already ended in Q1.

The championship leader took turn one too tightly, damaging his suspension. Although his time was enough to advance to Q2, the Italian can no longer participate.

Antonelli will thus start the race at best from 16th position. Mercedes, however, could potentially use this unusual blunder immediately – just as in Monza, another engine could be deployed for the championship leader.

Russell secures clear pole position

Due to the grid penalties, the 20-year-old would likely start the race from 18th position, as both Aston Martins of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll also face grid penalties.

The pole position, however, ironically goes to George Russell.

The Brit, who had already set the fastest time in the first and second free practices, drove a dream lap to secure first place. Charles Leclerc (+0.837) is already over eight tenths behind.
