On Saturday evening, the first Round of 16 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 are scheduled.

France will be challenged by Germany's conqueror Paraguay, while co-hosts Canada will take on Morocco.

Here's an overview of the schedule for July 4:

Schedule, July 4 (CEST):

7:00 PM: Canada - Morocco (LIVE-Ticker >>>)

  • Canada is in a World Cup Round of 16 for the first time and aims to utilize their "home advantage" in Houston.

  • The North Americans secured their spot with a last-minute victory against South Africa, while Morocco dramatically prevailed against the Netherlands in a penalty shootout.

  • Both teams are considered among the surprises of the knockout phase. Canada is fighting for their first-ever spot in the quarterfinals, while Morocco even reached the semifinals at the last World Cup in 2022. The winner will face the victor of the match between Paraguay and France in the quarterfinals.

11:00 PM: Paraguay - France (LIVE-Ticker >>>)

  • Paraguay caused one of the biggest surprises of the tournament with their sensational victory in a penalty shootout against Germany.

  • France has been in dazzling form so far, giving Sweden no chance in the Round of 32 with a 3-0 victory.

  • With Kylian Mbappé at the helm, "Les Bleus" are among the top favorites for the World Cup title, while Paraguay hopes for the next sensation after their upset against Germany.

  • The winner advances to the quarterfinals and will face Canada or Morocco there.

Schedule, July 5 (CEST):

10:00 PM: Brazil - Norway (LIVE-Ticker >>>)

  • The record world champions have not been entirely convincing at this World Cup so far, struggling to a late 2-1 victory over Japan in the Round of 32. In the group stage, they secured two wins against Scotland and Haiti, along with a draw against Morocco.

  • Norway survived the "Group of Death" with France, Senegal, and Iraq as runners-up, eliminating Ivory Coast 2-1 in their first World Cup knockout match in 28 years.

  • The match-winner was (of course) superstar Erling Haaland, who already has five goals in his first World Cup appearance. Only Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi (both with 6 goals) have scored more often.

  • The "Selecao" has particularly relied on Vinicius Junior so far. The star forward from Real Madrid has four goals and one assist, thus being involved in more than half of Brazil's goals (9).
