Not Messi's Last World Cup After All? "He Keeps Surprising Me"
Argentina's head coach Lionel Scaloni does not want to confirm that Sunday's final will be Lionel Messi's last World Cup match.
For Argentina, and above all Lionel Messi, Sunday's final against Spain (9 PM in the LIVE ticker) presents a great opportunity to win another World Cup title.
Even before the start of the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, speculation grew that it would be Messi's last World Cup.
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni did not want to confirm this at the pre-final press conference. "How should I know?" Scaloni replied to the question of whether it would be the last World Cup for the 39-year-old superstar.
"You would have to ask him. I have no idea, because he keeps surprising me. That's a question for him," said the coach.
"We Should Enjoy It"
The final against Spain will be Messi's 34th World Cup match in what is his sixth overall tournament appearance. He is playing his third final on football's biggest stage.
"To reach another final at 39 years old is incredible," Scaloni noted. "We should enjoy it and must acknowledge this achievement."
The 2030 World Cup will be held in six countries, with one match taking place in Messi's home country, Argentina.
