Ahead of France clash: Decision made on Morocco star
There was long hope for a possible appearance by Morocco's rising star Ismael Saibari. Now there is certainty.
Morocco will have to contest the World Cup quarter-finals without Ismael Saibari.
"Apart from Saibari, everyone else is available," coach Mohamed Ouahbi said in Foxborough ahead of the match against France (from 10:00 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
The game comes too soon for the attacking player. However, he hopes that Saibari will not be out for the rest of the tournament.
Hopes for appearance dashed
Saibari was substituted early due to injury during Morocco's 3-0 victory in the round of 16 against co-hosts Canada.
Media had recently reported that the 25-year-old had only suffered a minor muscle strain and that there was hope for a quick comeback.
Saibari has already scored three goals at this World Cup. Last week it was announced that he would be moving from PSV Eindhoven to FC Bayern Munich.
