In the World Cup quarter-final between France and Morocco tomorrow, Thursday (from 10:00 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>), only referees from Argentina will be officiating on the pitch.

Head referee Facundo Tello will officiate the match. The 44-year-old has so far been involved in two group matches at the current World Cup – in the 1-1 draw between Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina and in South Africa's 1-0 victory over South Korea.

Referee Appointments Fuel Manipulation Allegations

The appointment of officials for the match between France and Morocco now adds further controversy and is being hotly debated on social media.

This is because Egypt's head coach Hossam Hassan had, after the 2-3 round of 16 defeat against Argentina on Tuesday, raised suspicions of match manipulation in favour of the Albiceleste.

"That was a rigged game and the whole world saw it. If they absolutely want Argentina to win, why do they even invite other teams?", Hassan said.

In previous World Cup matches, the referees usually came from at least two different countries. In the upcoming quarter-final between Spain and Belgium, referees from England and Brazil will be officiating.

In Argentina's round of 16 victory over Egypt, a Frenchman, Francois Letexier, was among the officials.
