Shock after World Cup semi-final: Attempted break-in at Lamine Yamal's
The attempted break-in was thwarted by the 19-year-old's private security service in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Unknown individuals have attempted to break into the home of Spanish international footballer Lamine Yamal near Barcelona.
The attempted break-in was thwarted in the early hours of Wednesday morning by the 19-year-old's private security service, according to reports from the newspaper "La Vanguardia" and other Spanish media, citing authorities.
Just a few hours earlier, Yamal had reached the final with Spain at the World Cup in the USA after a 2-0 semi-final victory over France.
Catalan police confirmed the incident upon request, but not the identity of the affected homeowner. The reports were not denied at the same time. Investigations have been launched, and they are searching for the perpetrators who escaped undetected, it was stated.
Property Formerly Owned by Pique and Shakira
According to "La Vanguardia"'s report, a security guard spotted two men on one of the property walls of the estate in Esplugues de Llobregat via surveillance cameras around four o'clock. Apparently, at least two other burglaries were committed in the area that night.
The homes of prominent football professionals in Europe are repeatedly targeted by burglary gangs.
The FC Barcelona forward's property is also known in Spain because it previously belonged to former football star Gerard Pique and singer Shakira. After purchasing it, Yamal repeatedly published pictures of the house and its outdoor facilities on social media.
