Europa Cup: Narrow first-leg defeat for SKN women

A bitter evening for the women of SKN St. Pölten!

SKN lost the first leg of the UEFA Women's Europa Cup second qualifying round at home against Malmö FF with a score of 0:2.

Deserved Lead

From the first minute, the Swedes played a very physical game with quick passes into attack. The St. Pölten women especially struggled in the final third, with Ebert and Rukavina both trying shots from distance.

However, Skoog provided the lead on the other side, scoring for Malmö from a tight angle (20').

Milivojevic Extends the Lead

In the second half, the visitors were also clearer in their offensive play. Persson even scored what would have been the interim 2:0, but the goal was disallowed for offside (56').

However, St. Pölten did not give up and Nagy had a good header chance. But the 23-year-old headed wide of the goal (75').

Shortly after, Malmö extended their lead to 2:0 with a goal from Milivojevic (79').

The second leg for the second-placed team in the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga will take place next week in Sweden. The Lower Austrians will visit Malmö on September 30th at 7 PM.
