Apparently, there were errors between Sturm and the Turkish club in the exchange of transfer documents. Now FIFA will decide whether the transfer can go through or not. However, since the data was exchanged before the end of the transfer window, the move could still happen now.

Sturm's Managing Director Parensen explained in a "Canal+" interview that the squad slot freed up today was a precautionary measure: "FIFA is currently still making a regulatory decision on a transfer, for which we don't have a completely clear statement yet. Accordingly, we didn't want to close this slot for this game, because we might then have a problem afterwards where we can't nominate another player."

And what about Wlodarczyk?

He explained why the vacant spot was not used for additional striker Szymon Wlodarczyk as follows: "We clearly committed to giving a young player, who is also under contract with us long-term and whom we want to develop, a chance in the end."

Parensen denied that a free transfer is in the cards for the Polish striker as a result: "No! That will not happen. We feel very well-positioned. We truly have a broad squad, where the coach has options to rotate or create alternatives. In that regard, we are very happy with it."
