On the other hand, frustration reigns; Marseille remains without a point in the league phase even on the third matchday.

After the renewed defeat in the UEFA Europa League, OM coach Bruno Genesio used strong words at the press conference to describe his team's performance.

"I have never been so disappointed with my team, especially with the first half," explains the 60-year-old.

Above all, the lack of intensity displeased Genesio: "We did not approach this game as one must approach a European cup match – quite unlike Graz."

Genesio criticizes lack of attitude

The Marseille coach also did not hold back criticism when analyzing the duels.

"We were dominated in every duel and virtually overrun in all crucial areas. In European cup competitions, you have to be strong in these areas to be competitive," said Genesio.

The Frenchman had expected significantly more from his team after recent performances against Angers and Olympiacos.

"We are allowed to make mistakes; that's part of football and the learning process. But I am disappointed with our attitude," he clarifies.

Apology to the traveling fans

The disappointment is also great among the traveling supporters of Olympique Marseille. After the final whistle, the players sought interaction with the fans.

Genesio shows understanding for their displeasure and offers an apology to the supporters.

"We should apologize for this poor first half. Especially considering they traveled 15 hours to get here and have the same journey back to Marseille ahead of them."

Despite the difficult starting position, the OM coach does not want to give up hope of advancing.

"There is still a small chance, and we have to give everything," emphasizes Genesio. After all, 15 points are still available in the league phase.
