ÖFB star Lienhart surprisingly absent from Freiburg squad
The Austrian is usually a starter for his club, but now he's not even in the squad.
ÖFB international Philipp Lienhart (30) is normally a starter for SC Freiburg. In the German Bundesliga, the defender has played every match of the current season from the start.
Now, on Thursday, they face AS Monaco away in the UEFA Conference League (from 9:00 PM CET in the LIVE ticker >>>). However, Freiburg will compete without the Austrian, as he is not even in the squad.
Lienhart to be rested
"The match in Leverkusen was intense, and before the international break, there is also a busy schedule of midweek fixtures. The Freiburg coaching staff has therefore decided not to take Philipp Lienhart to the Principality for load management reasons," the club writes on its homepage.
The Austrian will thus save himself the trip to the Principality, with a home match against FC Bayern Munich awaiting on Sunday.
