Six goals, all good? "Not if we drop to 60-70 percent"

Clearly, FC Santa Coloma was "only" Andorra's fourth-ranked team. But a 6-2 scoreline still leaves no room for dissatisfaction.

Or does it?

Well, almost. After all, Rapid is meant to succeed against stronger opponents. Despite all their offensive prowess, two very avoidable goals conceded were too many.

"We need to go over a few things with the team tomorrow that I'm not happy with," promised Johannes Hoff Thorup.

"We had ten minutes in the first half where we didn't look solid defensively and opened up too much space. And the second goal conceded came during a 'dead' phase, when the outcome was clear to everyone. But I'm not satisfied with that if we drop to 60, 70 percent," complained the Dane.

"It was a pretty good game - not outstanding," his captain also knew. "If you score six goals, it's okay to concede two sometimes, but we can't always allow ourselves that," said Matthias Seidl, who has recently adopted a slightly more defensive role.

Enough complaining. Rapid is through, after all. With an overwhelming aggregate score of 9-3. Good for confidence, good for knowing what needs to be worked on.

And for knowing what already looks quite good. Offensively, some of the six goals were worked out in a way that was never seen in Hütteldorf last season.

"A few of the goals were really, really beautiful. The second goal was probably one of the best goals I've seen from us since I've been here," enthused Hoff Thorup, who doesn't usually tend towards exuberance, about the full-field combination.

"Look dangerous offensively"

The fact that even written-off players like Marco Tilio are showing a completely different face compared to the past should encourage the Dane. That his hope of taking control of the game more often and adopting an intense style can come to fruition offensively.

"In the end, I'm happy with the result because it can be difficult to approach such a game after a good first leg. But offensively, we look dangerous," was the coach's conclusion, fitting the result.

Rapid, however, still owes proof that they can deliver this against teams that concede less space than the Andorran visitors who were merely participating.

First opportunity: Altach on Sunday at the Bundesliga opener. Who will be the next European opponent will only be clarified on Thursday evening.
