"If we just play a bit...": Austria captain Fischer proud
Wiener Austria's leader celebrated his birthday yesterday, marking an anniversary for the "Violets".
Manfred Fischer was very pleased yesterday with the performance in the 2-1 victory against Beitar Jerusalem.
For the captain of Wiener Austria, it was a very special match: On his 31st birthday, he played his 200th game for FAK.
"After the 0-3 in Wolfsberg, we really wanted to show a reaction. In the first half, we didn't succeed very well; in the second half, we switched to a back four. If we then really play a bit, it works out anyway," said Fischer.
Austria Wien Shows Comeback Qualities
Fischer is aware of the situation at the club: "For years, we've made a lot out of our opportunities. It's not always easy; we often go through deep valleys. But we always come out, the team never gives up."
Such an anniversary deserves to be celebrated. "I can treat myself to a beer today," said Fischer on Viola TV and grinned.
The return leg will take place next Thursday in Vienna. In the next round, Austria would await the winner of the clash between SC Braga and Dinamo Minsk.
