No ÖFB Nomination for Demir: How Markus Katzer Reacts
Despite strong performances, a Rapid duo misses out on the ÖFB squad. Sporting director Markus Katzer reacts.
SK Rapid Wien is currently causing a stir in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.
All the more surprising for many was Yusuf Demir's non-nomination for the ÖFB team squad. In recent weeks, he had been one of the crucial players for the Hütteldorfers.
Captain Matthias Seidl also impressed with strong performances recently, but is only on standby for the ÖFB squad.
"A Bit Surprising"
Now, Rapid sporting director Markus Katzer comments to ORF on national team coach Ralf Rangnick's decision.
"Yusuf Demir and Matti Seidl, in particular, did really, really well,” Katzer praises the two Rapid players.
The sporting director can only partially understand why it wasn't enough for a call-up: "It is a bit surprising. But in the end, I think it's also a great incentive for the lads to simply do even more, to perhaps be part of the next training camp.”
Katzer Doesn't Question the Decision
Despite his astonishment, Katzer does not want to question the ÖFB national team coach's decision.
"We will, of course, accept the decision as it is. It also suits us. But I do think both would have deserved a nomination.”
