Title contender Sturm Graz is knocked out in the round of 16 of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup! The Styrians are defeated 2:3 by Austria Lustenau.

Sturm initially tried to control the game, but Lustenau became dangerous early, especially down the right flank. After a Diarra low cross, Weixelbraun shot at Sturm goalkeeper Helac from point-blank range (11th minute), and five minutes later, a similar play led to the hosts' 1-0 lead.

Diarra released Gmeiner on the right side, and the cross came perfectly onto the head of centre-forward Jastremski, who confidently headed it in against Helac’s direction of movement (16th minute).

Lustenau Extends Lead

The Graz side conceded a second goal via the hosts' right wing. Jastremski, the target man, headed down the high delivery for Weixelbraun, who took the ball on the volley and sent it into the net with a high arc (26th minute).

Only at 2-0 did Sturm seem to wake up and shift up a gear. The goal to reduce the deficit came before half-time, as Petrovic headed in an unmarked Balbo free-kick cross at the back post in the 35th minute.

In the second half, Lustenau managed to neutralize the Graz side again, with the Ländle-Kickers even creating the better chances, for example, through Jastremski (49th minute).

In the 56th minute, Jastremski was then even able to complete his brace: A pass from Ismailcebioglu was deflected on its way into the penalty area, allowing Jastremski to get a surprising shot away without a defender on him – making it 3-1.

Thrilling Final Phase

Ten minutes before the end of regular time, the Graz side laid the groundwork for a highly thrilling final phase. The Lustenau defence fell asleep on Koller's long ball forward, and Seidl was able to undisturbed guide the ball past Schierl into the net (80th minute).

Sturm pushed for the equalizer, while Lustenau used the open spaces for counter-attacks. Despite several chances, the lively final phase remained without further goals, and Lustenau advanced to the quarter-finals of the ÖFB Cup with a 3-2 victory.
