The Austrian women's national team secured qualification for the second playoff round of the 2027 World Cup in Brazil with a convincing 4-0 home win (aggregate score: 6-1) against Kosovo.
Switzerland awaits as the final hurdle for coach Lars Söndergaard's team. The Swiss "Nati" had previously prevailed against Israel with an aggregate score of 9-3. The ÖFB XI will first play away in Switzerland before they can secure their World Cup ticket in the return leg in Vienna.
Decision to be made at Franz-Horr-Stadion
The first leg will take place on December 1st in Switzerland. The return leg will be held on December 5th in front of a home crowd.
The ÖFB has once again chosen "Franz-Horr-Stadion" in Vienna-Favoriten as the venue, following October 2025. In the home ground of Wiener Austria, the ÖFB women aim to make history by qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil.
Will the attendance record be broken?
"The women's national team has never qualified for a World Cup before, so it's also an opportunity for all spectators in the stadium to experience this special moment live," Söndergaard motivates the fans.
The Dane also adds: "I am very much looking forward to this highlight in December, where we will need all of Austria behind us."
The goal is clear: to set a new attendance record.
The current attendance record for a women's international match stands at just over 10,000 fans. The record was set in September 2023 during the home match against France (0-1).
