The reasons for Mwene's absence and Kalajdzic's place on the bench
Both scored in the final phase of the clash with Israel, but Sasa Kalajdzic and Phillipp Mwene are missing against Kosovo (at least from the starting XI).
Ralf Rangnick has certainly sprung a surprise with his starting XI for the second Nations League match against Kosovo.
The starting lineup against Kosovo >>>
There are six changes compared to the last match against Israel. This includes Phillipp Mwene, who put the ÖFB team back on the winning track in the 90th minute three days ago. On Sunday, the left-back is now completely missing from the squad.
As the team manager explains to "ORF" before the match, this is due to a slight injury: "The hamstring tightened up at the end of training." With an eye on the Ireland match and the return leg against Kosovo, the German did not want to take any risks.
Kalajdzic not ready yet
Once again, Sasa Kalajdzic does not appear in the starting XI. The LASK attacker also scored against Israel, but according to his own statement, he does not yet feel ready for a start, as the team manager explains before the Kosovo match.
"He expressed that he would prefer to come off the bench. Since he's been at LASK, he's never played more than 30 minutes," says Rangnick. Three days ago, the 29-year-old was on the field for 54 minutes. In all likelihood, Kalajdzic will come on as a substitute during the game.
