KSV new signing shines with a brace - and sees red!
20-year-old Bojan Potnar only signed for Kapfenberg at the beginning of October - in the ADMIRAL top match against Sturm II, he is the decisive man.
Bottom-of-the-table Kapfenberg achieves an important success in the ADMIRAL top match of the 9th round of the 2. Liga. In the derby against SK Sturm Graz II, the "Falken" celebrate a 2-0 victory.
Man of the match is clearly Bojan Potnar. The 20-year-old German, who previously played for the second team of FC Schalke 04 but was without a club for the past three months and only signed for Kapfenberg on October 8th, scored both goals.
After his brace, Potnar was also sent off with a yellow-red card in the 53rd minute of his second 2. Liga match.
Potnar bags a brace within minutes
Sturm II actually showed good attacking intent at the beginning of the match. Among others, Wisler Lazarre failed to convert when alone in front of KSV goalkeeper Vinko Colic. Niklas Lang also missed a good chance from a promising position.
However, in the 37th minute, it was the other side that scored: Marcel Stöger delivered a sharp cross into the middle, and Potnar decisively deflected it in for Kapfenberg's 1-0 lead.
Shortly after, the German completed his brace: Bagrastioni brought the ball from midfield into the penalty area, where Potnar wasted no time and slotted the ball into the near corner with his first touch (41').
KSV sending off, Sturm II misses penalty
At the start of the second half, however, Potnar suddenly became the villain. Due to a dive in the opponent's box, the German received his second yellow card of the game and thus had to leave the field early (53').
Playing with ten men, Kapfenberg sat deep in the second half. In the 63rd minute, Sturm II then had a huge chance to pull one back after being awarded a penalty for a handball. Lang stepped up but only hit the post - the score remained 0-2.
Sturm II pressed hard for a goal in the closing stages. KSV keeper Colic made several strong saves, but in the end, the "Falken" actually kept their goal clean until the final whistle.
Kapfenberg still with the red lantern
Although Kapfenberg remains in last place, they increased their points tally to six. Sturm II is in 13th place with eight points.
