This Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand our data protection practices, including what personal data we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it, and how we protect it, as well as your individual rights.

Personal data is defined slightly differently in various parts of the world. To ensure your privacy and the protection of your personal data, we define it as any information that could allow us or the Sportradar Group to identify you directly or indirectly.

This Privacy Policy applies when we act as the controller for personal data collected and processed via our website and app. This means that this Privacy Policy applies when we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data. Personal data collected and processed by us during your registration and access to our website and app will be processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation („GDPR“) and any other applicable data protection laws.

Please note that our website and app may contain links to third-party digital assets (websites or applications) for which this Privacy Policy does not apply. We assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for third-party digital assets and the processing activities related to such digital assets.

We are part of the Sportradar Group, a global leader in understanding and leveraging the power of sports data. LAOLA1 is a sports video platform that offers sports fans and content partners worldwide the best videos from the world of sports. We also provide sports fans with news, statistics, an interactive community, live tickers, and other content related to all relevant sports.

3. What personal data do we collect and how do we process it?

The main reason for collecting personal data is to provide and improve the services, products, and experiences that you and our other users expect from us. Specifically, we collect personal data (i) automatically when you contact us or interact with us via our website and app, and (ii) when you provide personal data to us.

The type of personal data we collect and how we process your personal data depends on your relationship with us and whether you have subscribed to a service. Please specify your user type. Below, we have explained for each user type what data we collect, why, and which legal bases apply. Please note that the information from Section 4 onwards applies to all users, regardless of their membership status.

When you provide us with your personal data, please refrain from providing us with additional personal data, such as your ethnic origin, political opinions, religious and philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, health information, information about your sex life or sexual orientation.

We do not knowingly or intentionally collect and process data from children when they visit our websites or apps. If you believe we have accidentally collected personal data from children, please refer to Section 13 (Contact) and contact us. We will then delete the personal data as quickly as possible.

You are a LAOLA1 Community Member if you have paid our monthly membership fee, visit our website, and interact with content.

4. Revoking consent for push notifications

Sportradar reserves the right to use one or more types of technology to collect data on our website and in our app, as described below and in our Cookie Notice.

Pixels

A tracking „pixel“ is a transparent graphic (usually 1 pixel x 1 pixel) or a JavaScript that is placed on a webpage and enables the collection of data about the use of the webpage containing the tracking pixel. By using tracking pixels, we collect technical data, e.g., the device's operating system, location data, etc., as well as data about your interactions and engagement with our website and app.

Cookies

A „cookie“ is a small text file, usually consisting only of letters and numbers, which is stored in your computer's temporary memory. It either expires at the end of a browser session („Session Cookie“) or is permanently stored on your computer's hard drive („Permanent Cookie“). The use of cookies allows us to „recognize“ you on your next visit and tailor the offers on our website and in our app to your interests. 8. To whom do we disclose your personal data?

We do not disclose your personal data to other persons or third parties, except to trusted partners and under the following circumstances:

  • We disclose your personal data to organizations that provide services on our behalf, such as online payments and other forms of payment processing, i.e., credit card transactions and fraud prevention.

  • We disclose your personal data to organizations that offer user statistics, website/app analytics, and functional services.

  • If you use our website for free, we disclose your personal data to our trusted advertising partners so that they can help us reach you with marketing and advertising. For example, some of the cookies we use on our website belong to third parties that help us display non-personalized and personalized advertising to you.

We have implemented appropriate legal and organizational measures to ensure that these third parties process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

9. How do we secure your personal data?

Our employees are obliged to treat personal data confidentially. We only disclose your personal data to third parties and trusted partners as described in Sections 7 and 8 of this Privacy Policy.

10. How long do we retain your personal data?

The retention periods for each cookie used by LAOLA1 (whether first-party or third-party) are listed in our Cookie Notice.

Sportradar maintains strict policies for the retention of the personal data we process. In cases where Sportradar is a „data controller,“ we delete all data once the purposes for which it was collected have been fulfilled (including compliance with legal requirements).

In any case, the necessity of data retention is assessed by each Sportradar business unit (in consultation with our privacy team); this takes into account the legal and business purposes relevant to the processing of this data, the possibility of achieving these purposes by other means, applicable legal requirements, the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data, and the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or accidental disclosure of your personal data.

11. What data protection rights do you have?

You have the following data protection rights:

    You have the right to obtain confirmation from us as to whether we are processing your personal data. Should we be processing your personal data, you have the right to request access to your personal data and to receive further information about the processing of your personal data.

  • Right to Rectification/Correction

    You have the right to have your personal data rectified if it is inaccurate. You can also rectify some of your personal data by reviewing and changing the personal data in your account settings.

  • Right to Erasure/to be Forgotten

    Under certain circumstances, you have the right to request the erasure of your personal data.

3.    What personal data do we collect?

3.1.    When registering for LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH services, we may collect any information that can identify the user of the services. In the text below, you can find the personal data we collect automatically, the personal data provided to us, and the personal data collected from other sources.

3.2.    Automatically collected personal data

3.2.1.    To offer certain functions when you access our website and app, we may collect your IP address. Additionally, we use cookies to better understand how you use our website and app.

3.3.    Personal data provided to us by you

3.3.1.    When you register for our services, we collect different categories of personal data, depending on which service you wish to sign up for:

•    For our LAOLA1 Club, we collect your email address, the country from which your IP address originates, and your username
•    For our LAOLA1 PREMIUM subscription, in addition to the data we collect for the LAOLA1 Club, we collect your payment data. Depending on the payment method, either your credit card data, bank data, or PayPal data
•    For our newsletter service, we collect your email address
•    For our WhatsApp service, we collect your mobile phone number
•    For our browser push notification service, we collect your IP address

3.4.    After registration, we may also collect the following categories of personal data if you actively provide them to us:

•    Your gender

•    Your Facebook ID

3.5.    When you provide us with your personal data, LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH kindly asks you to refrain from sending us any additional unsolicited personal data. In particular, LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH asks you to refrain from sending us personal data related to the following:

4.1.    For what purposes do we process your personal data?
We use your personal data for several reasons. In most cases, it is about measuring your behavior on our website and in the app and, on this basis, creating personalized experiences from the perspective of both engaging content and interesting advertising. More specifically, the purposes are as follows:

•    To assess which parts of our website and app users view and how they behave
•    To offer the possibility to register for our LAOLA1 Club, which allows users to utilize login-based features such as our LAOLA1 PREMIUM features, the ability to use the comment section on our website and in the app, or to personalize content (such as the „my feed“ function)
•    For charging via your selected payment method
•    To provide you with our content services such as the newsletter service and WhatsApp services.
•    For notification purposes, if you have participated in a competition
•    To display or send personalized advertising to our users to increase the precision of our advertising measures

4.2.    On what legal bases do we process your data?

To process your personal data, we may rely on different legal bases, including:

4.2.1.    Your consent, where legally required or permissible. If we rely on your consent as the legal basis for processing your personal data, you may withdraw your consent at any time. This right is further explained in Section 13.9 of this Policy.

4.2.2.    The necessity to enter into a contractual relationship with you and to fulfill our obligations under the respective contract.

4.2.3.    The necessity for us to comply with legal obligations for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

5.    Do we collect data from children?

5.1.    LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH does not knowingly collect personal data from children. The definition of „children” is subject to local and domestic law and may vary accordingly.

6.    How do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

6.1.    LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH reserves the right to use so-called cookies. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that are temporarily archived in the working memory („session cookie”) or permanently stored on the user's computer hard drive („persistent cookie”).

6.2.    This information includes, among other things, the user's IP address, login data, browser type and version, the date and time of the user's visit to our websites or use of our apps, and a cookie number.

6.3.    The use of cookies enables LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH to „recognize" the user on their next visit and to tailor the offerings on the websites and in the apps to the user's interests. Cookies are generally deleted as soon as the user logs out of their personal account, or the cookies expire on their expiry date. So-called language cookies, which „recognize" the language of the website or apps previously used by the user during visits to the website or use of the apps, are not deleted when the user logs out. If the user does not log out of their personal account, all cookies will be deleted after three months at the latest.

6.4.    Withdrawal of consent for the use of first-party cookies

6.4.1.    Users can delete their cookies from their browser at any time using their browser settings. Additionally, LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH automatically deletes all first-party cookies 6 weeks after setup. This 6-week period is automatically extended each time you visit our website and use the app.

6.4.2.    The types of cookies we may set in your browser can be divided into three groups:

9.    When do we transfer your personal data?

9.1.    We may transfer your personal data to trusted third parties in countries outside the European Union. We may disclose your personal data to Sportradar Group companies located outside the European Union.

9.2.    When transferring your personal data to a third party outside the European Union or to countries that do not have the same data protection standards, we have implemented appropriate measures to protect your data, such as organizational and legal measures (including EU standard contractual clauses), to ensure the protection of personal data. You can obtain a copy of these measures by contacting the Sportradar Privacy Office, whose contact details can be found below in Section 15 of this Policy.

10.    To whom do we transmit your personal data?

10.1.    There are several trusted partners with whom we collaborate and who process the personal data we collect. The partners are grouped into the following categories:

•    Companies for user statistics and website/app analytics

11.    How do we secure your data?

11.1.    LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH uses all available technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against a security breach leading to accidental or unlawful deletion, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of or unauthorized access to your transmitted, stored or otherwise processed personal data.

11.2.    The employees of LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH are obliged to treat personal data confidentially. The employees of LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH will only transmit your personal data to third parties as described in Sections 6 and 7 of this Policy.

12.    How long is my data stored? 

12.1.    LAOLA1 Multimedia GmbH does not retain personal data longer than necessary for the purposes outlined in Section 2 of this Policy.

12.2.    Regarding personal data not collected by cookies (see Section 3 of this Policy), we delete all personal data after 2 years of non-use. This means that we delete your personal data if you have not logged into or used a service for which you previously registered for two years. We may actively contact you before deleting the data.

12.3.    Regarding cookies, we delete all first-party cookies (including your consent to the use of your personal data outside of the functionalities for which you must actively register) after 6 weeks of non-use. This means that if you have not visited our website for a period of more than 6 weeks, we will delete all first-party cookies.
