Norway's run at the World Cup came to an end in the quarter-finals against England.

Jude Bellingham scored a brace in extra time, firing the "Three Lions" into the semi-finals (Match report >>>). Argentina now awaits them there.

The Norwegians had taken the lead through Andreas Schjelderup's goal. In first-half injury time, Bellingham equalized 1-1 with his first goal of the game.

England's Equalizer Sparks Debate

However, the genesis of Bellingham's goal was already the subject of discussion during the match.

This is because, prior to the equalizer, the ball apparently touched the rope from which the so-called "Spidercam" hangs, after Norway's goalkeeper Örjan Nyland's goal kick. At least, TV replays suggest this.

This is what FIFA says about the scene >>>

For Alf-Inge Haaland, the father of Norway's star striker Erling Haaland, it is clear: the game should have been interrupted, or the goal should not have counted.

"I think we were cheated today," the former Premier League player reacted on "X" to a post by English journalist Henry Winter.

England didn't advance thanks to Bellingham's strong performance, as Winter wrote. Rather, the "Three Lions" were saved by the referee, Alf-Inge Haaland opined. He still hopes that England will now win the World Cup.
