2027 Nations League Final at the Bernabeu?
Spain has submitted its bid to host the 2027 Nations League Finals tournament. The final match is planned to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Estadio Santiago Bernabeu could become the venue for the Nations League final in 2027.
Spanish Football Federation President Rafael Louzan confirmed that all bidding documents have been submitted to UEFA.
In addition to Madrid, Valladolid, with its Estadio Jose Zorrilla, is planned as another host city. For the final match, however, the Spanish federation has clearly positioned the Bernabeu as its preferred stadium.
A final decision on the allocation is still pending. For the Bernabeu, modernized after its extensive renovation, it would be the first major international football event of this magnitude.
Spain Could Play a Home Final
Particularly interesting: As the reigning world champions and strong favourites, Spain could themselves compete for the Nations League title in 2027 – and thus play a potential final on home soil.
The previous four Nations League finals took place in Porto (2019), Milan (2021), Rotterdam (2023), and Munich (2025). Portugal secured the title twice, making them the record winners. Spain triumphed in 2023, France in 2021.
Madrid's bid could also be seen as a test run for the 2030 World Cup final. The Bernabeu is considered a possible venue for the final, alongside the new Camp Nou in Barcelona and the Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca.
