FC Salzburg suffers their first competitive defeat under coach Danny Röhl on the second matchday of the UEFA Europa League group stage: The "Bulls" clearly succumb to AC Milan with a 0-4 loss.

The game starts evenly, but in the 15th minute, it's 0-1 from Salzburg's perspective. Cisse heads Hutchinson's cross in relatively unopposed, Morgalla is too late against the 19-year-old Italian (15.).

Shortly after, a quick double goal is avoided. Zawieschitzky saves against the breaking Loftus-Cheek, and Boma clears Hutchinson's rebound off the line (17.).

Equalizer disallowed, then Milan extends lead

A few minutes later, cheers erupt as goal scorer Tabakovic scores the supposed equalizer, but assist provider Morgalla had already taken the ball out of play before the pass (24.).

Just over half an hour is played when Milan makes it 2-0. Rabiot's cross is brought into the middle by Bartesaghi with a first touch, where Cisse, unmarked, bags his brace (32.).

Ruben Amorim's team controls the game thereafter, and the half-time lead is well-deserved.

Salzburg caught off guard

Salzburg starts the second half ambitiously, even creating a good scoring chance in the 49th minute - but on the direct counter-attack, the Milanese make it 3-0.

Cisse pushes Rabiot's pass over the line for his third goal. The goal passes the VAR check for offside, making the hat-trick complete (49.).

Salzburg doesn't give up for now; in the 54th minute, Milan's goalie Maignan rushes strongly out of his goal and prevents worse against Baidoo (54.).

4-0 and red card for Milan

A short time later, the star trio Modric, Pulisic, and Ramos are brought into the game, and the Portuguese makes it 4-0 after a serious blunder by Mazurek. The Pole fumbles the ball in front of his own penalty area, Ramos reacts quickly and beats Zawieschitzky (72.).

Salzburg finishes the game with a numerical advantage, as substitute Terracciano brings Schmid down as the last man after a quick counter-attack and receives a red card for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity (83.).

However, the "Bulls" do not manage to score a consolation goal. This marks their first defeat in Röhl's 15th competitive match.

Both teams now have three points in the group stage - Milan is eleventh, Salzburg is in 18th place.
